Perry Kimmel was selected and represented Kent State University at the 2016 Inter-University Council's Student Advocacy Day

2016 Jun 15

Perry Kimmel was selected and represented Kent State University at the Inter-University Council's Student Advocacy Day, in April of 2016.

The Inter-University Council is a member organization consisting of each of Ohio's 14 public, four-year institutions of higher education. Each year, presidents of each institution select a small number of students to accompany the president to Columbus, Ohio, to learn more about legislation affecting higher education and advocacy strategies. Students then join their presidents to put their knowledge into action as they meet with lawmakers and staff at their Statehouse offices in an effort to educate members on pending policy matters from a student perspective.

"Telling the story of Kent State University is most impactful when told by a student," said Nick Gattozzi, Kent State's executive director for government and community relations. "As a student-advocate for higher education, generally, and our university, specifically, you provide elected officials with an important perspective on the impact of higher education."

For the 2016 program, Kimmel was one of only 5 students selected to represent Kent State.
