2016 Nov 15

Richard Lovell, a junior Integrated Social Studies major in the College of Education Health and Human Services, has been selected to represent Kent State University at Propel Ohio's 2016 Collegiate Leadership Summit.

Propel Ohio is an undergraduate leadership program for civic engagement consisting of a statewide conference and regional gatherings to actively engage college students on issues affecting Ohioans and the country. The program features US Senator Sherrod Brown, guest speakers and facilitators to discuss civic engagement for college students.

Nicholas Gattozzi, Kent State's Executive Director of Government and Community Relations adds, "Propel Ohio provides Kent State University students with an experiential opportunity to meet with and interact with students from other institutions and public sector leaders. The conference puts forward topics important to students and allows them to explore Ohio-based solutions to those challenges."

For the 2016 program, Lovell was one of only 6 students selected to represent the university. Propel Ohio 2016 focused on issues that affect childhood poverty, including health and hunger, education, and housing security.
