Samyak Moktan has been chosen to serve as a Graduate Student Orientation (GSO) teaching fellow at Kent State University

2016 Jul 5

Samyak Moktan, a College of Communication and Information graduate student, studying Communication Studies at Kent State University, will serve as a Graduate Student Orientation (GSO) teaching fellow. Moktan is one of 20 graduate students chosen for this honor. The Graduate Student Orientation teaching fellows are selected after a highly competitive application and interview process, and they represent many of Kent State's finest graduate students.

The Graduate Student Orientation teaching fellows play an instrumental role in the planning of Graduate Student Orientation and creating a welcoming environment for graduate students; and they also facilitate many of the orientation breakout sessions. However, their role does not end with Graduate Student Orientation, as they serve as mentors and advocates for their fellow graduate students following the program, and throughout the academic year.

Graduate student orientations are held prior to both the fall and spring semesters, providing an opportunity for new graduate students of all disciplines to meet and network with their peers and representatives of Kent State's faculty, staff and administration, and to learn about university resources.
